Great Gordon!

It was lovely to meet Gordon and experience the city through the eyes of a local.
Gordon really showed us a side of Hamburg we didn’t expect to find. Please pass on our gratitude for sharing his enthusiasm for your wonderful city.

A wonderful day with a wonderful end.

Right from the time my Greeter picked me up at my hotel till we parted company 7 hours later Gordon’s passion and affection for Hamburg was evident. He had done his homework diligently. I enjoyed meeting him and spending my day with him in Speicherstadt (Warehouse City) and the new HafenCity (Docklands) as a Greeter and I think I have left him as a friend. We got along well. He was knowledgeable, well researched, able to change his priorities and planned route, based on my interest in a particular thing, monument or issue. He is fluent in French, English and German and will do well in all these languages. He should continue to do well as he is so good at it.

A fabulous experience

Our grateful thanks to Rebekka for a wonderful tour of Hamburg. From the moment she met us off our boat at the Hamburg cruise terminal to the moment she left us at the city hall nearly 4 hours later her knowledge and love of her city were evident. Through Rebekka we saw some sights we would never have experienced on our own and she added so much colour to the short time we had available. We were particularly pleased she was able to accommodate our requests at such short notice and was great at keeping in touch and making arrangements. This is our second experience of the greeters service and most definitely will not be our last. I cannot recommend them highly enough.

Great visit to Hamburg

Very very pleasant and worthwhile. Our greeter Jan was great – friendly, helpful and knowledgable. Would definitely do tho again in a foreign city. He made us feel so welcome as if we had made a new friend. It was great to not only get to know the city but the people of Hamburg too.

Highly recommended

An excellent way to discover parts of Hamburg that I wouldn’t otherwise have visited. Our walk around Altona and Ottensen included a visit to a violin maker, certainly not somewhere I’d have set foot but for my greeter’s interests.

The personal touch makes a big difference.

Hamburg, the way to go!

My husband and I had a fantastic experience with our Greeter, Heinz. We saw Hamburg from a local perspective and gained so much knowledge about the town and its history. Heinz took us into places that we would never thought of going into and told us of so many other places that would be worthwhile visiting during our stay. Our coffee break took in the most amazing view of the lake which made the coffee all the more enjoyable.

A big thank you to Heinz and the Hamburg Greeters for making this service available. No one should miss a Greeters tour when coming to Hamburg.

Rose and I want to express our heart fill thanks to both of you for spending the day with us and walking us through so many memorable locations.  Together with your earlier emails detailing thoughtful suggestions on where to go by ourselves, we wish to have at least a week here to enjoy more of Hamburg.  Your graceful embassador action was most inspiring and we will treasure our friendship forever.  Please give our best regards to Hamburg Greeters.

After we parted, we proceeded to the Miniature Wonderland.  It sure was a wonderful place to visit, not only for the kids.  Actually we saw at home the video a few years ago.  The scenes are so realistic.  Many airplanes took off and landed on the runway.  Amazing.  After that, we took the U to the next station to get on the ferry for 3 stops.  We saw Hamburg harbor and the container terminal.  It was a busy port.

Thanks again to our Greeter Rebekka and Bodo,  hope to see you in LA soon!

Dear Rebekka,

many thanks for being with us yesterday. It was very informative and the cultural exchange was amazing. If it would not have been you we would have missed some great stories.

Remarkable Hamburg tour and interaction with a gentle giant

This is my first time in Europe, and definitely one that would go a long way in my memories ahead. I met up with Stefan at the Baumwall train station instead of the supposed meeting point (yeap I lost my way after the city tour). Stefan was more than helpful throughout the greeter tour and I enjoyed my conversations with him tremendously.

We explored much of the harbour as well as the infamous Reeperbahn. Hamburg is a beautiful city, but what’s more that impressed me were the people of Hamburg. It definitely was a pleasant experience, and I would highly recommend this to anyone who enjoys an informative tour, as well as a good conversation over a cup of Glühwein (hot spiced red wine).
